How to Play World // Zero
PC controls, combat rhythm, and the progression loop from quests to Nightmare.
This page is the systems manual for World // Zero: how to move, fight, and progress without relying on muscle memory from other Roblox RPGs. Pair it with Getting Started if you have not finished Crescent Cove yet.
PC controls (primary sheet)
Memorize this layout — most community videos assume it:
| Action | Key |
|---|---|
| Move | WASD |
| Sprint | Shift |
| Basic attack | Left mouse button |
| Sheath / put away weapon | Q |
| Dodge | C |
| Class skills | E, R, F |
| Ultimate | X |
| Pet ability / call | 1 |
| Perk swap | 2 |
| Mount | Z |
| Menu | Tab |
Mobile players get the same actions as on-screen buttons. The important part is the priority order: dodge beats greed, skills weave between light attacks, and ultimates are spend resources for elites/bosses — not random openers on trash unless you are AoE farming.
Combat rhythm that actually works
- Position — Melee classes close gaps after a dodge; ranged classes hold angles so telegraphs miss.
- Light attack string — Build tempo and fill downtime between skill cooldowns.
- Skill weave (E → R → F) — Dump skills when they are up, but cancel greed if a red ground indicator appears.
- Dodge (C) — I-frames beat healing items. Learn boss wind-ups in World 1 so World 5 towers feel readable.
- Ultimate (X) — Save for boss phase changes, elite packs in towers, or clutch saves when the party is collapsing.
- Pet (1) + perk swap (2) — Pets contribute damage, heals, or status. Perk swap lets dual-focused loadouts flip between mob-clear and boss profiles mid-run.
If you only practice one habit from this guide, practice dodge timing. Gear and class tiers multiply damage, but dead players deal zero.
The core progression loop
Everything in World // Zero funnels into one loop:
Quests → Dungeons → Gear → Classes → Towers → Nightmare / Infinite
- Quests open worlds and dump early XP. Always clear the current world’s story/side markers before pure farming.
- Dungeons (Worlds 1–4 style) are multi-room gauntlets ending in a boss. Matchmaking fills parties automatically.
- Gear from clears raises your damage floor. Equip upgrades immediately; vanity second.
- Classes unlock on level gates: Tier 1 at 1, Tier 2 ~15, Tier 3 ~35, Tier 4 ~60, Tier 5 after prestige. Mastery classes need long dedicated quests.
- Towers appear from World 5 onward (wave floors + final boss) and become your main mid-game engine.
- Infinite Tower (level 100+) and Nightmare portals in World 10 (~level 175) are the endgame stress tests.
Deep dungeon/tower strategy lives in the Dungeons Guide. XP routing lives in the Leveling Guide.
Worlds at a glance
You climb Worlds 1–10, from Crescent Cove to Crystal Cascade. Recommended level bands rise each world (roughly teens in World 1 up through 130–150 in World 10). You do not need every boss name memorized to play well, but you should always be in content near your level — underleveled towers feel like brick walls; overleveled quests waste time.
Pets, mounts, and menus
- Pets hatch from eggs, level with candy, and hold meaningful combat/utility value. Read Pets Guide before you burn premium eggs.
- Mount (Z) speeds world traversal between quests; dismount before tight boss arenas if controls feel floaty.
- Tab menu is your hub for classes, inventory, dungeons, and codes. Visit Codes on this wiki, then redeem in-client before grind blocks.
Party etiquette (matchmade content)
Stay with the group, do not pull entire rooms ahead of the tankiest player, and save big AoE for packed waves. In towers, bonus chest challenges on wave floors are worth learning — they improve end rewards. If you are learning a new class, say nothing toxic when you die; just watch the telegraph again.
Choosing what to press when you feel overwhelmed
New players often bind anxiety into random skill spam. Use this triage:
- About to be hit? Dodge first.
- Safe and skills ready? Weave E/R/F.
- Elite or boss vulnerable? Ultimate + pet.
- Pack of trash? AoE skills and mob-oriented perks (swap with 2 if you run dual sets).
- Traveling between objectives? Mount, then sheath with Q if you need clean camera/UI.
How classes change the same controls
The keys stay identical across Swordmaster, Stormcaller, and Starbreaker — only skill identities change. That is why learning controls early transfers when you unlock Dual Wielder, Guardian, Dragoon, Spirit Archer, or Mastery lines like Stormcaller, Necromancer, Mage of Shadows, Hunter, Leviathan, and Starbreaker. Browse identities on Classes Overview and investment priority on Best Classes.

Master WASD combat, respect dodge, and ride the quest → dungeon → class → tower loop. Everything else in World // Zero is optimization on top of that foundation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers players ask every week.
What are the main World // Zero PC controls?
WASD move, Shift sprint, LMB attack, Q sheath, C dodge, E/R/F skills, X ultimate, 1 pet, 2 perk swap, Z mount, and Tab for the menu.
What does perk swap (2) do?
It swaps between configured perk setups so you can favor mob-clear bonuses or boss-focused bonuses without leaving the run. Dual-oriented players use this constantly.
Is the progression loop the same on every world?
Yes in spirit: quests open content, dungeons/towers print gear and XP, levels unlock classes. The format shifts at World 5 when towers become the headline activity.
When should I use my ultimate?
Prefer elites, boss phase transitions, and emergency AoE when the party is swarmed. Random ults on single trash mobs waste cooldown uptime.
Do mobile controls change the strategy?
No — the actions map to buttons instead of keys. Dodge discipline and skill weaving matter just as much on touch.
