World // Zero Pets Guide
Eggs, candy XP, perks, and evolution — turn companions into real DPS and utility.
Pets in World // Zero are not pure cosmetics. A leveled pet deals damage, heals, applies status, or collects drops while you focus on dodging telegraphs. This guide covers how to obtain eggs, hatch and level pets, understand the three-perk mindset, and decide when to evolve or replace a companion. Pair pet investment with class choice on Best Classes and combat basics on How to Play.
How to get pets
Pets primarily come from hatching eggs. Egg sources include:
- Egg shops in towns (notably through the early worlds up to World 4)
- Quest rewards while you climb Crescent Cove and beyond
- Tower rewards once World 5+ towers are online
- Event shops and raid drops during limited catalogs
- Robux purchases for premium or convenience pets (optional)
Hatch as soon as you can. An unequipped egg in your inventory helps nobody. After hatching you can name the pet; rename scrolls exist in the cash shop if you change your mind later.
Leveling pets with candy and food
Feed pets candy (and related pet foods when events re-enable older food tiers) to grant pet XP. Higher pet level strengthens abilities: damage pets hit harder, heal pets restore more, status pets prolong effects, and some auras gain radius.
Important constraint: you generally cannot equip a pet higher level than your character. Keep your own level ahead via the Leveling Guide so your best hatch is not stuck in storage.
Candy economy tips:
- Prioritize candy into the pet you actually queue with.
- Do not spread XP evenly across every cute hatch if you are pushing towers.
- Save premium candy for event legendaries or clearly stronger ability kits.
The three-perk framework
Modern World // Zero builds talk about three perks in the pet/gear ecosystem — players tune pets alongside armor and weapon perk philosophies for mobbing versus bossing. In practice:
- Identify whether today’s content is wave-clear (towers, Infinite farm floors) or boss-focused (Nightmare finals, raid bosses).
- Slot pet abilities that amplify that plan (AoE chip, burn/poison, heal pulse, drop magnet utility).
- Use perk swap (key 2) when your class/loadout supports flipping profiles mid-run.
Destructoid-style perk names you will see in community loadouts include Glass, Boss Bane, Elite Assassin, Master Thief, Ferocious, and Self Destruct — treat those as build labels you match on gear/pet screens, not as separate pets. Your pet is one pillar of that triad.
What pets do in combat
Expect pets to:
- Auto-participate in fights with their ability kit
- Collect gold and orbs so you spend less time vacuuming drops
- Scale with level instead of the old rigid Tier 1–5 evolution-only model (pet levels replaced much of the pre-revamp evolution grind, though evolve-style systems and event foods still appear in guides and videos)

Evolution and upgrades
Community videos titled around evolving pets still matter because the client exposes upgrade/evolve actions and event foods that visually or functionally promote companions. Practical rules:
- Evolve or upgrade only the pet you main.
- Read the ability text after each upgrade — some pets gain radius, duration, or entirely better effects.
- Event-exclusive pets can be both status symbols and legitimate power; compare ability text to your current main before replacing a fully candied companion.
If a patch reintroduces pet food tiers (strawberry through sundae/candy style charts), feed the highest XP food you can sustain to the main pet first.
Pets by progression stage
Early game (Worlds 1–4): Any hatched pet is a win. Equip it, feed basic candy, and focus on learning dungeons (Dungeons Guide).
Mid game (Worlds 5–8 towers): Prefer pets that help wave clear or keep you alive through longer floors. Reassess after each world tower.
Endgame (Infinite + Nightmare): Align pet perks with your Mastery class. Stormcaller/Necromancer players often favor damage and boss-bane style setups; support-leaning groups may keep a heal utility pet.
Common pet mistakes
- Hatching everything but equipping nothing.
- Feeding candy to a pet you will replace tomorrow.
- Ignoring perk swap when your class can dual-profile.
- Chasing robux skins while a free quest pet sits underleveled.
- Forgetting drop-pickup value — time saved collecting orbs is more clears per hour.
Synergy with classes and codes
Pets multiply class identity; they do not replace it. A weak class with a great pet still underperforms a meta class with a decent pet. Use Classes Overview and the Players Hub when planning long-term mains. Redeem Codes during events that grant pet cosmetics or currency so you are not short on upgrade resources.

Hatch early, candy your main, tune three-perk logic to the content in front of you, and only then chase flashy event evolves. That is how pets actually move the needle in World // Zero.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers players ask every week.
How do I get a pet in World // Zero?
Hatch eggs from shops, quests, towers, events, or optional Robux packs. Equip the pet immediately after hatching so it joins combat and collects drops.
How do I level pets?
Feed candy (and event pet foods when available). Ability power scales with pet level, but you typically cannot equip a pet above your character level.
What are the three pet perks?
Players tune pet ability roles together with gear perk setups — often a triad aimed at either mobbing or bossing — and swap profiles with the perk swap key when supported.
Should I evolve every pet?
No. Evolve or heavily upgrade the companion you actually run in dungeons and towers. Spreading resources slows your main pet’s power spike.
Are event pets always better?
Not always. Compare ability text and your content type. Some event pets are cosmetic flexes; others are genuine upgrades for Nightmare or Infinite farms.
Do pets work in Infinite Tower and Nightmare?
Yes. Endgame content assumes you bring a leveled pet with appropriate damage, heal, or status support for long wave floors and brutal bosses.
